Become a Foster Parent or Volunteer

Become a Foster Parent to a homeless animal

We love and appreciate our foster homes.  Fosters provide a temporary  home where a homeless pet can grow, heal and thrive while waiting for their forever home. History has proven that animals able to live in a foster home while waiting have the best chances of success when they go to their new home.

Foster Home Requirements

  • All current pets in the foster's home must be spayed/neutered as well as up to date on all vaccinations and heartworm preventative.
  • Our foster parents are driven to assist in finding their temporary canine guests with a forever homes. For  that reason our fosters must be willing to give updates on the healing and socializing of their fosters. WE love pictures and updates to post about foster pets waiting to be adopted.
  • Foster parents must be willing to bring their foster animals for meet and greets with potential adopters when needed.
  • BCHS will provide crates, food, collar and leash, toys, etc. We provide the supplies while our foster's  supply the patience and love.

Volunteer Opportunities at the Shelter

We have a small, dedicated staff that manages and oversees the daily operations of the facility.  We rely on our volunteers to help us provide the optimum animal care, as well as assistance with our programs, and to help raise funds to support our ongoing efforts.

Volunteer Requirements

  • Volunteers must be at least 16 years old unless accompanied by an adult.
  • Volunteers must commit to work at least one shift a week or a total of four shifts a month.
  • Volunteers must participate in a brief training for each  volunteer position they pursue.
