Adopting a pet from Brown County Humane Society is easy! Simply fill out our adoption application, meet with one of our adoption counselors, and then take your new furry friend home. Our adoption fees are affordable and cover the cost of spaying/neutering, vaccinations, and microchipping.
Fostering a pet is a great way to provide temporary care for an animal in need. It also helps us free up space in our shelter for more animals. We love our fosters! You can also help us here at the shelter working one-to-one with the animals.
Our team is made up of dedicated animal lovers who are passionate about assisting the community with their pets. We offer Low Cost Spay/Neuter - Temporary Pet food assistance and other community services.
Meet the "Sons of Anarchy" Litter! These CUTE babes were born via c-section in the early morning hours of the winter solstice (December 21). There are 3 boys and 3 girls available for adoption. Their mama is a mixed breed and weighs 50 lbs. We did a DNA test and should have results back within a week or so. Adoption fee is $200. They are the sweetest babes ever!

Brown County Humane Society was so helpful with navigating our first adoption process. I have worked in the veterinary field for a number of years and understood the importance of making sure our adoptee was a good fit. Amanda and her team were eager to have conversations and visits, and listened to our concerns without judgment. I’m so thankful that Beula (previously CeCe) is in our home today, we couldn’t imagine life without her. Thank you! ~I.F.
I saw Elf as soon as he was surrendered. I made the hour drive to Hiawatha and will be forever glad I did. He is a loveable little elf and a joy to be around. ~Karin T.
BCHS and their fosters have impacted our lives in the most meaningful way! We were lucky enough to adopt our Graci (previously Victoria of Vivian’s litter). Her huge heart always amazes us and makes such a difference to everyone. Graci’s foster family is and always will be held in a special place in our hearts! Their love for the animals is evident in all of the animals they place. The work that this group does is very impressive, they are truly making an impact on so many lives! We full heartedly support and thank BCHS! J.B.
We adopted Travis and he is now a tracking dog... working to save others who are missing. He is an amazing member of our pack and family. Thank you Brown County Humane Society -
